What is CSFP?

CSFP is a federal nutrition assistance program that provides low-income, elderly individuals with a monthly box of food. The box does not contain a complete diet, but provides nutrients typically lacking in the diets of the elderly population. It includes a variety of foods, such as cheese nonfat dry and ultra-high-temperature milk, juice, oats and ready-to-eat cereal, rice and pasta, peanut butter, dry beans or peas, canned fruits and vegetables, and canned meat, poultry or fish. All of Ohio’s 88 counties participate in CSFP.

Who is eligible for CSFP?

If you are age 60 or older, if you live in one of the participating CSFP counties, and if your total household gross income is at or below 130 percent of theof the federal poverty guidelines, you may apply for CSFP.

See if your county offers CSFP . If it does, contact your nearest food bank. Staff there will direct you to the nearest location to apply.

If Dta Gets Returned Mail

DTA mail is not forwarded by the U.S. Post Office. If you move and DTA does not have your new address, DTA letters will likely get returned to DTA. However, if you left a forwarding address with the U.S. Post office, DTA should use that information to update your address and send a check-in notice to your new address.

How To Report Loss Of Food:

If your food spoiled due to a loss of power or other misfortune, you may qualify for replacement SNAP benefits. You can ask for replacement SNAP benefits if you lost food that you bought with SNAP because:

  • You lost power for 4 hours or more,
  • Your utilities were shut off ,
  • Your freezer or refrigerator stopped working, or
  • There was damage from a fire, flood, or storm

Tell DHS within 10 days of the food loss. You can do this in person , by phone or mail. Within 10 days of when you report the loss, you also need to give DHS a SNAP-55 Request for Replacement of Food Purchased with SNAP Benefits form below. This can also serve as your initial report.

How To Change The Address On An Ebt Account

When states approve someone for cash assistance or food stamps, benefits are deposited onto an Electronic Benefits Transfer card. The accountholder’s name and address are linked to the EBT card, just as with debit and credit cards.

Tip

If you have an EBT card and need to change the address linked to your account, you must do so in the manner permitted by your state’s social services agency.

How Long Will I Get Help

You can get SNAP benefits for as long as you are eligible for help. You will be required to complete a mid-certification and a recertification each year you get SNAP to make sure your household is still eligible. If you do not return your information by the deadline on the form, you may lose your benefits.

How To Change Your Address With The Postal Service

To let the post office know you are going to change your address and want your mail forwarded to your new location, you have two options:

  • Go to USPS.com/move to change your address online.
