Getting a SNAP or TANF application
To pick up an application at the county office, please use the Family Assistance Office locator to locate your county office. You can also have a friend or relative pick up an application and bring it to you.
To have an application mailed to you, please call the Family Assistance Service Center at 1 311-4287. You can also use the Family Assistance Office locator to contact your county office. It is important to confirm that the office has your correct address.
To print an application at home, please access the online application in English, Spanish, Arabic, and Somali. Once you print your application, fill out the information to the best of your knowledge and provide the completed application to your county office by mail, fax, or in-person. The Texas EBT Card holds the food assistance benefits assigned to you each month. Your benefits will be deposited onto your EBT card according to the schedule below:

I have things to do, like set up my healthcare plan properly so I can go get an ultrasound for my child, which is what you guys were supposed to be offering here. What did I get? A glitch, I cant even freaking log in to my account because after I answer my DOB and SSC I am proceeded to the next part of logging in and it says answer these three questions, you only have one try and yetâ¦THERES NO QUESTIONS just a grey screen with that writing typed on the top, I closed out and re entered my information again. STILL NOTHING NEW, just the grey screen holding me back from getting my healthcare done. And worse I just got off the phone from the interview she should be calling me soon to see if Ive uploaded my documents and when I have to tell her there is a glitch and I cant log in, Im sure we wont be able to continue much of the process without it, then I will have to dip into my wallet, and spend money that a young mother looking for help with her healthcare shouldnt be spending right now, just to get a ride all the way 30 minutes out to use the father of my childs computer. I need this to be fixed because this affects everything in my agenda and this is supposed to help me not dig me further into my problems.

Am I Eligible For Snap
SNAP is for people with a low household income and resources. It is also for legal immigrant children under 18, people who get disability assistance or benefits and for veterans and their families. Families with ineligible people can still apply for benefits for household members. A family cannot have more than $5,000 in resources that can be used to buy food. Resources include cash, your bank accounts, and any amount over $15,000 of the value a households vehicle. Your home is not counted as a resource. Childless adults without disabilities who work less than 20 hours a week and are not in a work program can get SNAP benefits for 3 months every 3 years.

Gov Abbott Hhsc Announce Extension Of Emergency Snap Benefits For September

HOUSTON Governor Greg Abbott announced Friday that the Texas Health and Human Services Commission is providing more than $344.9 million in emergency Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program food benefits for the month of September. The allotments are expected to help about 1.6 million Texas households.
SNAP food benefits play an important role in helping to ensure every Texan leads a healthy life, said Governor Abbott. Thank you to HHSC for continuing to make nutritious food available for families and Texans across the state.
Were proud to continue supporting Texas families in keeping their pantries stocked with healthy, nutritious foods, said Texas HHS Access and Eligibility Services Deputy Executive Commissioner Wayne Salter.
According to the news release, HHSC received federal approval from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to extend the maximum, allowable amount of SNAP benefits to recipients based on family size, and all SNAP households will receive a minimum of $95 in emergency allotments. This additional emergency allotment should appear in recipients accounts by Sept. 30.
The emergency September allotments are in addition to the more than $7.9 billion in benefits previously provided to Texans since April 2020.

Option 1 Last Purchase Receipt
If you kept your last purchase receipt, you can look at the bottom of your receipt and find the current balance on your EBT card.
This is one of the easiest ways to get the most up to date balance on your card.
Additionally, to make future purchases easier, you should also get in the habit of keeping your EBT purchase receipts in the same place.
That way, anytime you are unsure about your card balance, you can reference your last purchase receipt.

Check Form Tf0001 To Get Your Texas Food Stamp Edg Number
When you were awarded food stamps, the Texas Health and Human Services Department sent you a document called a TF0001 form.
This document informed you that you qualified for Texas SNAP benefits and explained how much food stamps you would receive each month.
In addition, this SNAP food benefits document also has your 9 or 10-digit EDG number. Below is an example of the TF0001 form that has your eligibility determination group number.

Receiving Your Snap Benefits: Lone Star Card
When you qualify for SNAP, you will be receiving benefits through Lone Star Card. This is a standard plastic card, as in the case of debit cards. The card is used just like a debit card. You will have the money in your account on due date and you can purchase food items with it, using it like a debit card.
The United States Department of Agriculture provides SNAP benefits. USDA will load your card with your monthly amount of SNAP benefits, each month. You can use this money on stores where regular debit card works.
If you qualify and receive a Lone Star Card, it is your responsibility to use it with care. No one else can use your card since it is illegal to allow someone else to use your benefits. If you are in a situation where youll need someone else to use your card for you, you will have to ask for a second card. You can then give the second card to someone you trust. The money spent from that card will be deducted from your primary card.
In order to start using your Lone Star Card, you will have to sign at the back of your card after you receive it. You will also need to register it in order to use it. You can call 1 800 777 7328 to register your card. You will then choose a PIN for your card.
If you opt to pick up your card at HHSC benefits office instead of getting it in mail, you wont have to register it. When you are handed over the card at the office, it is registered at spot.

If you receive a claim code in the mail for P-EBT benefits, follow these instructions from your notice to claim your child’s P-EBT benefits. To claim your child’s benefits online:
