Round Three Information Extension #2 Or P
Recently, states have been granted authority, pending federal approval, to provide eligible children P-EBT food benefits for the entire 2020-21 school year.
This is the second extension of the P-EBT program in California, otherwise referred to as P-EBT 2.0.
However, to provide P-EBT benefits for the 2020-21 school year, states must develop and submit a new P-EBT plan for federal approval.
The CDSS and CDE are awaiting federal guidance and will be working to develop and submit a plan as soon as possible.

How Does My Child Become Eligible For The National School Lunch Program For School Year 20212022 P
If your child does not attend a Community Eligibility Provision or Provision 2 school, you must complete a NSLP household application and be certified eligible by the child nutrition department. It is recommended that you submit it to your child’s school no later than April 29, 2022. Contact your child’s school for more information and to request an application. If your child or household participates in other state programs such as SNAP, Medicaid, or TANF or has foster, migrant, or homeless status, they are considered directly certified and do not need to complete a NSLP household application.

Background On Pandemic Ebt In California
P-EBT Extension: Over the summer of 2020, P-EBT provided food benefits to eligible school aged children for the months of March, April, May, and June 2020. In late October, California was approved to provide additional P-EBT benefits to children who already received P-EBT benefits for the months of August and September 2020. This is referred to as the P-EBT Extension. These new P-EBT cards should have been mailed directly to families in late October through late December. Eligible families do not need to apply to receive P-EBT extension benefits.

CHARLOTTE AMALIE The Department of Human Services announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Services approved the VI Plan to issue Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer to children of current Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program households and non-SNAP households.
This third round of P-EBT financial nutrition assistance will cover meals that were missed from October 2020 through May 2021 because of the closure of private and public schools, which participate in the National School Lunch Program. Eligible children must have received 100% virtual or hybrid school instruction as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic. Note: Children will not be eligible to receive P-EBT for any of the days enrolled in In-person school instruction. Children who are usually Home Schooled are also not eligible for P-EBT.
