Walmart

To purchase food on Walmarts website, you can order groceries online or on the app, then you select EBT card at checkout and swipe your card at pickup.

Kroger

SNAP recipients may also shop online for groceries at Kroger through Kroger.com or the Kroger app. To order through Kroger, recipients can place their order and use their SNAP/EBT as the payment method. EBT card customers can complete their transaction with an associate and pay for ineligible EBT purchases with a debit or credit card.

Kroger Extending Curbside Pickup Option To Snap/ebt Shoppers

INDIANAPOLIS – Shoppers who use government assistance for groceries will soon be able to get curbside pickup at Kroger stores.

Starting April 21 in Indiana and Illinois, the company will accept SNAP/EBT as payment for customers who use Kroger’s pickup service. Kroger said in a release Thursday that EBT payments are already accepted in Ohio and the company plans to offer the service in their more than 2,000 stores that have curbside pickup by the end of the month.

Kroger is rolling out a payment capability across our nearly 2,800 grocery stores to allow more customers to access fresh, affordable food and essentials through our Pickup service, said Rodney McMullen, Krogers chairman and CEO.

To use curbside pickup, customers shop and place their grocery order at Kroger.com after selecting their preferred store location. For customers using benefits to pay for the groceries, “SNAP/EBT” should be selected as the payment option, then take the EBT card with you to the store when its time to pick up your order.

Once arriving at the store, a Kroger associate will load the grocery order into the car. Kroger said the EBT payment is then completed with a mobile point-of-sale system and a debit or credit card can be used to pay for an ineligible items or to pay off the balance of the order.

Pull In To Pickup Your Order

After placing your order, a Kroger associate is assigned to shop for you and complete the list before you pull in for pickup. Then, drive to the stores location and look for the pickup signs when its time for you to pick up your groceries. The pickup signs have a contact number that you have to dial to inform the store of your arrival. After pulling into the parking spot, call the number so an associate can bring out your order.

The Kroger Co. has begun accepting Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits for its online grocery pickup service.

Kroger said late Thursday that SNAP beneficiaries now can shop online for groceries at Kroger.com or via the Kroger mobile app and collect their order curbside at a nearby Kroger store. Pickup service is available at more than 2,000 Kroger Co. stores nationwide.

Kroger noted that pickup offers a low-contact, convenient service to customers concerned about shopping in stores due to the coronavirus outbreak. The Cincinnati-based retailer said it has waived the minimum purchase requirement and fee for all pickup orders to encourage use of the service.
