There are three ways to apply for EBT/Food stamps in Pennsylvania:
Option 1 Online
The easiest way to apply for Pennsylvania food stamps is online via the COMPASS Portal. to be taken to the application website.

What Happens After I’m Approved
Once you are approved for SNAP, you will get your Electronic Benefit Transfer card in the mail. Your monthly benefit will be loaded on this card. You can check the Monthly EBT benefit schedule to see what day your benefit will be loaded to your card every month. You will also be able to get help with employment and job training through the SKillUp Program at no cost to you.
To Get Snap You Need To:
- Apply online, by paper application, by phone or or in person when our lobbies reopen. Currently, they are closed for safety due to COVID-19.
- Meet eligibility requirements

- Have an interview with DHS staff *
* Due to the pandemic, the federal government has allowed required in-person interviews to happen over the phone. DHS is also allowed to postpone interviews for SNAP applicants who are eligible on an expedited timeline and offers the flexibility to skip the interview entirely if DHS has all the information necessary to make an eligibility decision.
You may have another person act as an authorized representative by applying and being interviewed on your behalf by designating an authorized representative in writing.

You can use your EBT card in any grocery store or retail location in the United States that displays the Quest Mark® logo or online at approved locations. Each state runs its SNAP program differently, but you need to reside in the state to apply.
Now, restaurants in six states are now participating in the SNAP program, offering recipients discounts on meals.
