When Will California Issue P
Even though P-EBT benefits were approved by Congress for the 2020/2021 school year , states have to submit a plan to the USDA to be approved to operate their P-EBT program for the 2020/2021 school year.
The California Department of Social Services and the Department of Education have been working on submitting a plan to the USDA for approval.
Once that plan is submitted and approved, the state will issue P-EBT benefits for the 2020/2021 school year.
As of May 1, 2021, California has not been approved to issue P-EBT 2.0 benefits.
The CDSS and CDE continue to work with the USDA to secure approval of our P-EBT plan.
Additionally, The CDSS and CDE will communicate to stakeholders as soon as the state plan is approved and P-EBT cards for the school year 202021 begin to be mailed.
Also, The CDE and CDSS will host an informational webinar about the P-EBT 2.0 rollout for 202021 on Thursday, June 10, 2021, from 2:003:30 PM.

Using A Louisiana Purchase Ebt Card
Once approved, the EBT Card can be used to buy selected foods at participating stores in Louisiana and other states. It can be used like a debit card at grocery stores, but you need to create a four-digit PIN and enter it when making purchases.
Those who qualify for cash benefits can use the card to withdraw money from participating ATM locations but be sure to know what your balance is each time you need to use the card and also save the receipts.
