To get in, a SNAP participant with valid ID that matches the SNAP card will get in for free, along with up to four guests. Officials say, free admission may not be available during special events.
You can also score free admission passes via the New Orleans Public Library. Two passes are available at each branch for checkout by library cardholders, according to Audubon. Each pass provides entry for two adults and seven children for a two-week period.

Audubon offers free admission to Audubon Zoo, Aquarium and the Insectarium on Veterans Day for military service members, both active duty and retired. Complimentary admission is offered with a military ID for free admission for up to five people, including the veteran. Theres no residency requirement for veterans.
The free admission days are only available to Orleans Parish residents, Audubon said. Jefferson Parish residents and government employees have an annual half-price admission day, which is funded by a grant from Jefferson Parish.

Mesker Park Zoo is now offering a new program which gives some families an opportunity to enjoy the zoo for free.
The zoo initiative is being offered to people who receive SNAP benefits. SNAP provides food benefits to people living on low or no incomes.
The zoo is getting funds to do through organizations like the COVID-19 Crisis Response Fund of the Greater Evansville and the Indiana United Way.
They get free and discounted membership. You also get our newsletter, you get discounts on some of our other programs, like events, special events, or summer camps. But the main perk is obviously getting to come to the zoo whenever you want for as long as you want, anytime you want, Erik Beck, Mesker Park Zoo Director.
Beck says families need this type of joy now more than ever.

The discounted rate includes a five-dollar annual membership while the standard yearly membership fee is sixty-five dollars.

But some people say the program should be inclusive of all families. Kelly Enriquez has four kids which she says making a day at the zoo expensive.

Visitors can bring their own food, beverages, and coolers into the Zoo. Glass and outside alcohol are prohibited.
Some dining options may not be open during your visit. Information on what to expect can be found at on the morning of your visit. Base Camp Café is open every day and offers options like chicken tenders, pizza, salads, and burgers. All dining options, menu information and allergen information can be found on the Zoo website at . While our food team is as careful as possible when alerted to allergy needs, there is a possibility of cross-contamination and most of the processing plants we use also process common allergens.
Cups of water are available at any open dining location free of charge. Water fountains are available around the Zoo .
The Zoo is unable to provide refrigeration for any items that need to be kept cool. The Visitor Experience team may be able to store medical equipment or a cooler for medical needs on a case-by-case basis.
We welcome visitors to administer medicine or tend to medical needs where they feel comfortable in the park. We have many quieter places off the main path, benches, and family restrooms to utilize. The family restrooms in the Vine Street Village are equipped with adult-size changing tables.
