If you lose food purchased with your EBT card due to a power outage caused by weather, ice storm, fire, flood, tornado or other household misfortune outside your control, you may request a SNAP benefit replacement. To report a loss and begin the process of receiving replacement benefits, you must complete and submit an Online Replacement Request within 10 days of the event. Food stamps are designed to pay for well, food. This means that you cant buy any non-food items with your EBT card. While some unapproved items are obviously not suitable to buy with food stamps, this also includes essential non-food items, like household supplies and hygiene products.
Heres what you cant buy with EBT:

- Diapers and other baby supplies
- Medicine, vitamins, and supplements

The first replacement card in a calendar year is free. You are charged $5 for each additional replacement card. When you or your EBT alternate cardholder requests 3 or more replacement EBT cards within a 12-month period, you will be issued a replacement card, but you may not be able to use it until you make contact to explain the reason for the replacement EBT card request.
