How To Buy Walmart Groceries Online With California Ebt Card
Currently, Walmart only offers online grocery purchases with EBT for curbside pick-up and not for delivery. Delivery options will be added soon.
If you have a CalFresh EBT Card, you will now be able to use your cards to buy groceries and select curbside pick-up.
You can only use your EBT card to buy eligible grocery items and you cannot use your food stamps dollars to pay for delivery.
Step 1 Go to the Walmart Grocery website
The first step to purchasing groceries online at Walmart is to go to the Walmart Grocery website at www.grocery.walmart.com.
Step 2 Find Walmart Store Near You
Next, enter your zip code to find the Walmart store location near you. This is the location you will pick-up your online grocery order from.
Step 3 Shop for Groceries Online
Once you have selected your Walmart location, begin shopping for grocery items online by adding EBT eligible items to your shopping cart.
You will be asked to sign in to your Walmart Account or Create an Account once you place an item in your shopping cart.
Step 4 Checkout and Choose Delivery Option
Once you sign into Walmart, you can continue shopping until you have selected all the grocery items you want.
Next, click the Check out button. There is a $30 minimum for Walmart online grocery shopping. You will not be able to proceed to checkout until you reach this limit.
Once you hit the check out button, you will be taken to a page where you can Reserve a time for pickup.
Step 5 Checkout with your EBT Card
How Does Walmart Grocery Delivery Work
Walmart has partnered with local, third-party grocery delivery services like DoorDash, Postmates, and Roadie to deliver your groceries. You can order grocery delivery online at the Walmart Grocery website or on the Walmart app.
After placing your order online, a Walmart Grocery associate will shop for the items you ordered and get them ready to be delivered to you.
When your one-hour grocery window is near, a delivery driver will arrive at the store to pick up your order.
You will receive an email notification that your driver is on their way to your house.
The driver will then arrive at your house and leave your groceries unattended at your door.
As mentioned above, if your order includes alcohol, someone 21 years or older must be home with a valid ID to accept the order.
Once the groceries are left at your door, they are your responsibility. Make sure someone is home to bring in the groceries if your order contains perishable items.
Any changes, cancelations, or rescheduling of your order must be done before the cut-off time. To find the cut-off time for your delivery order:

Snap Online Purchasing Pilot Participating States
During COVID, in-store shopping changed. We could no longer drop by the local grocery store whenever the need arose. Instead, our trips to the supermarket had to be well-choreographed and planned.
Retailers have responded to this crisis with many new programs. One such program is SNAPs Online Purchasing Pilot.
New York was the first state to start offering the pilot program in 2019. Washington state followed in 2020, and, soon after, Alabama, Iowa, and Oregon launched their own versions of the program.
As of this writing, the following states are participating in the pilot program:
- Alabama
- Wisconsin
- Wyoming
If you live in one of these states, you can pay online with your EBT card. You can then pick up your groceries or have them delivered to your home.
The only thing your SNAP benefits wont cover is any related service fee. So, for example, SNAP wont pay for delivery fees.
The only three states that arent currently participating in SNAPs pilot program are Alaska, Louisiana, and Montana.
How To Make Online Ebt Purchases At Walmart
Youll have to start with creating an account. This account will allow you to shop, pay for orders, arrange for pickup, or arrange for delivery.
Once your account and profile are created, go ahead and log in.
Most Walmart shoppers have a basket minimum, meaning they have to have a certain amount of items in their cart before they can pay, process an order, and set up delivery or pickup schedules.
With an EBT card, you do not have to have a basket minimum, however, you will have to wait twenty-four hours after creating your account and logging in for the first time before the no-basket minimum is applied to your account.
- Sign in to your pick up and delivery account and choose Payment Methods
- Enter your first and last name, followed by your EBT card number
- Shop online and add items to your cart
The items added to your cart will tabulate your total price in the upper, right-hand corner of the page. When you are ready to checkout, simply click on the purse icon next to your total.
Once youve accessed your cart, EBT eligible items will be totaled with the remaining balance separate.
If your total is $115.29 and EBT eligible items total $66.52, the $66.52 will get taken care of when you pay with your EBT card.
The remaining $48.77 will have to be paid for with another method such as a credit or debit card.
If there is a remaining balance that is not EBT eligible, you will be directed to another page to select a payment method again for the remaining amount.

What Grocery Stores Accept Ebt Online Grocery Delivery/pickup

There are atotal of 44 states throughout the United States where Walmart accepts EBT Food and EBT Cash for online transactions.
Alaska, Arkansas, Hawaii, Louisiana, Montana, and Alaska are the only states in which you CAN NOT use your EBT benefits at Walmarts online store.
Residents of these states may use the EBT benefits for in-store shopping. However, Hawaii does not have any Walmart stores yet.

In all states across the U.S. states apart from Alaska, Hawaii, Louisiana, and Montana, Amazon allows for the purchase of groceries on its grocery delivery and pickup service, Amazon Fresh through SNAP EBT cards.
Amazon Fresh has a minimum order value of $35 in order for the delivery to be free, and that amount could be as high as $50 in certain regions. Orders below these amounts could be charged for and would not be covered by the SNAP initiative.
Walmart
The only superstore which has the authority to accept SNAP EBT card payments for the delivery of food shopping is Walmart. Such orders can be placed on Walmart’s official website or via the Walmart app.
