Instacart, the popular grocery delivery service, began introducing new payment options for SNAP EBT beneficiaries in December. Participating retailers include Aldi, Food Lion, and Publix, along with some smaller chains. Instacart has pledged to expand the EBT online payment option to more states and retailers in the near future.
When ordering with EBT on Instacart, customers must use a credit or debit card for non-eligible costs, including delivery and service fees, taxes, tips, and bottle deposit fees in some states. Customers over 60 who may be new to online grocery shopping can take advantage of Instacart’s Senior Support Service, which offers help with everything from setting up an account to placing an order.
Through Sept. 16, shoppers paying for Instacart orders with EBT SNAP at select retailers can get free delivery or pickup on their first three orders of $35 or more.

You can use your EBT card for Walmart Grocery delivery in eligible states. EBT is an approved payment method in states who are a part of the SNAP Online Purchasing Pilot Program.

As more Americans have sought food assistance amid the pandemic, more states and stores have started letting consumers use their benefits when ordering groceries online for pickup or delivery.
Participants in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, better known as SNAP, can pay in store at most major grocery chains including “specialty” grocery stores like Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s using electronic benefits transfer cards. But, until last year, EBT wasn’t a widely available payment option online. Now, through the expedited expansion of an online purchasing pilot program run by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Service, households receiving SNAP benefits in 47 states and the District of Columbia can use EBT to pay for grocery pickup and/or delivery from select retailers .
The list of participating states: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. Alaska, Louisiana, and Montana are the only states that have not enrolled in the pilot.

Can I Make Changes To My Walmart Online Grocery Order
Yes. Changes to your online grocery order can be made at any point before your cutoff time.
After the cutoff time, your order will be submitted to the store so they can begin picking your order.
Unfortunately, changes cannot be made after your cutoff time.
If you would like to change your order, sign in, click Your Account, and then Recent Orders.
- To update your pickup or delivery timeslot, click Change Time.
- If you would like to increase, decrease, or remove items or to update your substitution preferences, click Edit Items.
- To add more items to your order, click Keep Shopping, add items to your cart, and complete checkout. Your bank statement will reflect a second authorization amount which may vary depending on the item weight and/or type.
Snap At Walmart Or Other Retailers
If you plan to use your SNAP benefits at Walmart, you can buy a wide variety of food products with your EBT card.
Approved food items include fruits, vegetables, meat, poultry, fish, dairy products, bread, cereals, snack foods, and non-alcoholic beverages as well as seeds and plants that produce food for the household to eat, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Things you cannot use your SNAP benefits for beer, wine, liquor, cigarettes, tobacco, vitamins, medicines, supplements, live animals, hot foods, pet food, cleaning supplies, and cosmetics.

Whole Foods Market has over 500 stores that accept EBT cards for in-store purchases. Only a few Whole Foods participate in the USDAs pilot EBT delivery program, and thus, youll only find a handful of Whole Foods that accept EBT online.
You cant use EBT for online delivery or store pickup orders at most Whole Foods locations unless theres a participating location near you.
Even in the few locations participating in the pilot program, you can only use your EBT card to purchase SNAP-eligible items online, such as bread, milk, unprepared seafood, and more. Youll only be able to complete the payment in person when your order arrives.
Shoppers will need an alternative payment method to pay for the delivery fee and any other surcharges.
Other common payment methods accepted at Whole Foods include major credit/debit cards, Apple Pay, as well as Whole Foods Market, Visa, American Express, and Mastercard gift cards. They will not process a debit card without a PIN number.
