The Food Assistance/SNAP provides supplemental assistance to help low-income individuals and families purchase food.

Food Assistance/SNAP benefits are based on household composition and income and resources of all household members. Benefits are issued through the Electronic Benefit Transfer System by using the QUEST card, which is similar to a debit card.

The Employment First Program, operated at the Mesa County Workforce Center in collaboration with Hilltop Community Resources, provides job search and placement services for Food Assistance/SNAP recipients.

Low-income people may apply for Food Assistance/SNAP at the Mesa County Department of Human Services Applications are accepted in person, by mail, by fax, or online through Colorado PEAK. Applicants will be required to complete application forms and interview, and may be required to provide of proof of household circumstances.

Food Assistance/SNAP may be used to purchase food for human consumption or seeds and plants to grow food for household use. Food Assistance/SNAP may not be used to purchase any non-food item or hot foods that are ready-to-eat or any food marketed to be heated in the store.

To Speak With A Dta Snap Worker

Call Monday through Friday from 8:15AM to 4:45PM and follow the prompts to reach a case manager. The worker will ask for your name, your DTA Agency ID or your SSN. This helps the worker confirm who you are and look up your case. Be sure to ask the worker for their name and write it down. If you are not satisfied with the call, you can ask for the workers Supervisor or local office Manager.

If you are calling because you need to do an interview for an application or recertification, the DTA worker should do an interview on the spot and not tell you to call back later.

If there are long waits on the phone, sometimes DTA allows a option, meaning a DTA worker will call you back. Be sure to leave a phone number where DTA can reach you in the next 24-48 hours.

Can I Get New York Snap Right Away

If your household has little or no money and needs help right away, you may qualify for expedited SNAP.

If you do qualify, you must receive your initial benefit within 5 days.

However, you will will still have to complete the eligibility process and supply the requested documentation at a later date.

You can get expedited SNAP if any of the following apply to you:

• Your household has less than $100 in cash or other available resources. You will have less than $150 in gross income during the month that you apply.
• Your combined income and available resources in the month that you apply are less than the total of your rent or mortgage plus heat, utilities, and phone bills.
• At least one person in the household is a migrant or seasonal farm worker who has less than $100 in cash or other available resources.

To find out how much is in your account, you can:

• Check your receipt after buying something.
• Check your balance at the store before buying anything, if the store allows it.

You can also check your Lone Star Card balance and view recent card activity through your online account at YourTexasBenefits.com. If you do not have an account, you can set one up by going to YourTexasBenefits.com, clicking “Log in” and then “Create a new account.”

Texas HHS does not support using another website or mobile app to check your Lone Star Card balance or review card activity, and doing so could expose you to security or fraud risks.

What Is Ebt And How Does It Work

EBT stands for Electronic Benefit Transfer. It is a system that allows state governments to provide food assistance benefits to eligible low-income individuals and families through the use of a plastic debit card, which is used like a bank card.

EBT cards are issued to recipients of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program , also known as food stamps. The SNAP program is administered by the United States Department of Agriculture .

When an EBT cardholder makes a purchase at a participating retailer, the purchase amount is deducted from their EBT account balance. food stamp benefits can be used to purchase food and non-food items such as seeds and plants that produce food for the household to eat.

Here Are The Steps To Reset Or Change Your New York Ebt Card Pin:

To access your EBT benefits, you need a PIN.

If you do not remember your PIN, you can select a new by completing the following instructions:

First, call 1-888-328-6399.

When prompted, select your preferred language from those offered for example, press 1 for English.

Next, youll be asked to enter the 19-digit number from the front of the card using your phones keypad.

After entering the card number, you will hear a series of options. Press 1 to create your PIN or if you have forgotten your previously selected PIN, ignore the prompt to enter your PIN number and press 2 to create a new PIN.

You will be asked to enter the last four digits of the cardholders Social Security Number.

The Cardholder is the person whose name is on the front of the card.

Be sure to enter only the last 4 digits of that persons Social Security Number.

After entering the cardholders Social Security Number, youll be asked to enter your zip code.

Finally, you will be asked to select your new 4-digit PIN.

Enter a 4-digit number using your phones keypad.

Memorize this number.

Like when using a debit card, youll be asked to enter it whenever you make a purchase using your EBT food benefits.

Additionally, you may also change your PIN at most Social Services Offices, Job Centers and SNAP Centers.

How Long Will I Get Help

You can get SNAP benefits for as long as you are eligible for help. You will be required to complete a mid-certification and a recertification each year you get SNAP to make sure your household is still eligible. If you do not return your information by the deadline on the form, you may lose your benefits.

• Your mid-certification will happen halfway through your benefit period. You will get a form in the mail that you will need to complete and return to the Family Support Division.
