My Experience With Walmart Plus
Our family is always looking for how to save money while minimizing our trips to the grocery store. This has especially been the case during the coronavirus pandemic. Weve been using other grocery delivery services for months.
We thought we’d try Walmart Plus because we love Walmart’s low everyday prices. The extended 30-day free trial and cashback promos from Dosh and Chase Offers practically gave us two months to use Walmart Plus with nothing out of pocket.
Ordering online through Walmart Plus was simple and easy. It offers the same in-store prices and same-day delivery on more than 160,000 items from groceries to clothing to technology.
I particularly liked that Walmart allowed me to choose alternative items in case our preferred products were unavailable. You can have your shopper pick out substitutions, or you can click the item to choose what you’d like in case it is out of stock.
I also like that Walmart Plus gives you a window to add items to your order. Sure enough, as soon as I hit submit, my wife asked me to add two more snack foods the kids had just devoured. I was able to edit the order with no problem instead of creating a whole new order.
However, I didn’t like that Walmart Plus requires a $35 minimum to schedule a grocery delivery. Unlike with an Amazon Prime membership, there isn’t an option to pay a fee if your order is below the minimum. Walmart Plus doesn’t have a minimum on non-perishable items, though.

Walmart+ Free Shipping Benefits
Walmart+ offers free delivery with no minimum on any item thats actually sold by Walmart . By comparison, non-members only get free shipping on orders totaling $35+.
For some items, you can get next-day delivery. However, 2-day shipping is the most common. You can set filters to show only items that ship fast AND even choose exactly how quickly you need them.
Now, heres the problem, and why Amazon sometimes wins this round even though its technically a draw. Walmart uses FedEx and UPS . Unfortunately, due to widespread shipping delays, that sometimes means that your 2-day delivery turns into a week or longer.
I have noticed that Walmart+ members actually get their items faster than non-members. Just this week, I ordered $10 worth of paper towels that were delivered within two days.
My mom, who isnt a member, ordered $100 worth of pet food with a 2-day delivery on the 3rd. She got some of it about three days later. Her latest email from Walmart told her to expect the rest of it on the 10th.
So you may actually have a shot at getting your stuff on time if youre a member, but it really depends on how bad the shipping delays are in your area.
Prime Early Access And Walmart Plus
The Amazon Prime Early Access Sale is set to begin on October 11. The 48-hour sale will offer sitewide deals on everything from Amazon hardware to small kitchen appliances. Walmart has announced that it will offer a counter sale to Amazon’s event. The Walmart Rollbacks and More Even will last from October 10 through October 13. Signing up for Walmart Plus is simple. Visit Walmart.com/plus and click on “start 30-day free trial.” First, you’ll sign into your Walmart account or create one. Next, you’ll decide whether you want an annual or monthly plan. Once you’ve decided, click on “start 30-day free trial.”
