For Stop & Shop, the new service applies for all families and individuals paying with SNAP funds across the grocers five-state footprint including more than 400 stores in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York and New Jersey, as well as for customers receiving delivery in New Hampshire.

The new user-friendly experience offers online grocery shoppers the option to add their EBT card to their account on StopandShop.com and to shop using their SNAP funds. While browsing online aisles, SNAP customers can sort products to show eligible items, and a “SNAP Eligible” label will appear within the product details. At checkout, customers can select the “Apply SNAP benefits” option and select the amount to charge to their EBT card, allowing personalized budgeting throughout the month.

Walmart and Amazon have been increasingly moving into each others turf. As Amazon aims to broaden its customer base in low-income communities, Walmart is rolling out services designed to attract more affluent customers. Last year, Walmart introduced Jetblack, an invitation-only personal shopping service in New York. Walmart has also been offering higher-end brands on Walmart.com.

Why Does My Order Confirmation At Checkout Say That Prices Are Estimates Only

Stop & Shop phasing out Peapod, launching new service app

The Estimated Total amount displayed at checkout is only an estimate based on the items you selected, the prices in effect at the time of ordering, and the estimated cost of items sold by weight. The total cannot be finalized at the time of online checkout for various reasons, such as the need to weigh certain items , the possibility of substitutions and out-of-stock items, and the need to calculate final taxes, deposits, and any other charges and fees. Regardless of the date of scheduled delivery/pickup you will pay the prices, fees, and other charges, and receive the promotions, offers, discounts, and savings applicable to your order at the time of online checkout.

There Are 3 Things You Need To Know Before You Order

Even when youve found a place with grocery delivery that accepts EBT, there are three things that you need to know before you order.

First, your food stamps funds cannot be used to pay for the delivery fee, tip or other charges. It can only be used to pay for the eligible groceries themselves. Youll need a secondary payment method to cover the delivery fee and tip.

Second, youll save money if you place one large order instead of several smaller ones. Because you have to pay a delivery fee and tip for each order, its best to plan ahead and make sure that you dont miss anything. Grocery lists and meal plans can make a big difference!

Third, you may get better deals in the store. When you order online, you may miss out on great ways to save money .

That being said, its overall a great thing that there are stores with grocery delivery that accepts EBT. Obviously, its a tremendous blessing for people who are homebound but its also a great option when you are sick and dont want to spread your germs.
