You must register your EBT Card account and select your User ID and password byusing either the ConnectEBT mobile app or at ConnectEBT.com for access. Registering on either one also registers you on the other. Have your EBT Card handy when registering.

You can use your benefits to buy most food products. Prohibited items include alcoholic beverages tobacco vitamins and/or medicines hot food products that are made to be eaten immediately and non-food items . You are not allowed to sell or trade food assistance benefits, buy non-food items with your benefits, or use your benefits to buy food for someone who is not a member of your household.

Withdraw Cash From A Store

You can withdraw cash from stores displaying the Quest® decal with the dollar sign . There are no fees. You don’t need to make a purchase. Simply:

  • Get your balance by looking at your receipt, or call 1-800-997-2555.
  • Swipe your card.
  • Take your cash from the machine.
  • Wait for your card and receipt.
  • Check the receipt to make sure it is the same as the amount you got.

    How Much Are Payments

    Benefit amounts are determined based on household size, expenses and, in some situations, resources. Household size includes the number of people in your household who purchase and prepare food together. Household expenses include your rent or mortgage, gas, electric, water, sewer, phone and medical expenses, as well as any child support or child care payments. Household resources include cash, savings and stocks. In May 2018, the average monthly SNAP payment per recipient was approximately $121.

    What is CSFP?

    CSFP is a federal nutrition assistance program that provides low-income, elderly individuals with a monthly box of food. The box does not contain a complete diet, but provides nutrients typically lacking in the diets of the elderly population. It includes a variety of foods, such as cheese nonfat dry and ultra-high-temperature milk, juice, oats and ready-to-eat cereal, rice and pasta, peanut butter, dry beans or peas, canned fruits and vegetables, and canned meat, poultry or fish. All of Ohio’s 88 counties participate in CSFP.

    Who is eligible for CSFP?

    If you are age 60 or older, if you live in one of the participating CSFP counties, and if your total household gross income is at or below 130 percent of theof the federal poverty guidelines, you may apply for CSFP.

    See if your county offers CSFP . If it does, contact your nearest food bank. Staff there will direct you to the nearest location to apply.

    What To Do If You Suspect Fraud

    If you believe or have evidence of SNAP benefits fraud, it is important to report it right away. Fill out the online form at the USDA’s Office of Inspector General website. Your complaint can remain confidential you can include your name or opt to report the fraud anonymously. Another option is to call 202-690-2474 to make the complaint by phone. You can also mail a written letter detailing the suspected fraud to USDA, OIG Hotline, P. O. Box 23399, Washington, D.C. 20026-3399.

    You can also request a replacement EBT card:

    It costs $5 to replace an EBT card. The $5 fee will be taken from your benefits. If you have no benefits available, DTA will take the fee from you later. There’s no $5 fee if:

    • This is your first Photo EBT card
    • Your card was defective
    • Your card was lost in the mail
    • DTA is replacing an emergency EBT card
    • Your case was closed for 30 days or more
    • DTA has agreed to issue you a replacement card to accommodate your disability or domestic violence situation
    • You changed your name
    • You changed your Social Security number

    When Are Snap Food Benefits Put Into My Account

    SNAP benefits will be put into your account once a month. The last number in your SNAP Eligibility Determination Group number tells what day you get your benefits.

    You can find your EDG number on the TF0001 form we sent you saying that you can get SNAP benefits. If you can’t find it, call us at 800-777-7328.

You must let us know within 90 days from the date the error was made. If you report an error, we will send a letter telling you what action we took on your account.

    What If My Lone Star Card Is Lost Stolen Or Doesn’t Work

    Your card will be “canceled”. This means that no one not even you can use your card.

    If you need a new card, we will mail you one. You’ll get it in seven calendar days. Your PIN and balance will transfer to your new card.

    If someone steals your benefits before you call us at 800-777-7328, you lose those benefits. Someone can steal your benefits if they have your card and know your PIN.

    Combine your purchase at a store with cashback service. There are no fees. Look for the Quest® decal with the dollar sign and:

  • At check-out, swipe your EBT card.
  • Enter your secret PIN on the number pad, then press Enter.
  • Tell the cashier how much money to enter for the purchase and your cashback amount or enter the amounts yourself.
  • Check your receipt to make sure that the amount on the EBT receipt is the same as the receipt for your groceries and the amount or cash you received.

    Even though your EBT card may have your photo on it, other household members who are receiving benefits as part of your case can use the card as long as they know your PIN.

    What Should You Do If You Need To Replace Or Change Your Ebt Card

    To get a replacement card, call or go to your local DTA office. DTA will deduct a $5 replacement fee from your next TAFDC semi-monthly grant. If your cash account does not have enough funds to collect the fee, it will be deducted from your SNAP benefits. See DTA Operations Memo 2014-7 . You should not be charged a replacement fee if:

    • You do not get any cash assistance.
    • You have a new SSN or changed your name.
    • Your card was lost or damaged in the mail.
    • Your card is defective.
    • DTA mailed you a card, but you ask for another card before the one that was mailed arrives or was used.
    • You got an emergency card that does not have your name on it and you want a card with your name.
    • You applied for benefits and got a card but you were not approved and never used the card.
    • Your case was closed for 30 days or more, you reapply, and you no longer have the card that was issued before.
    • You lost your card in a disaster or fire or flood.

    DTA should issue your replacement card the day you request it or the following day.

    If DTA plans to charge the $5 replacement fee, it will give or send you a form notice that says you will be charged. You can request a refund.

    If you request four or more than four replacement cards in a 12-month period, you will have to speak with a DTA worker to get another card. If your worker is not available, you should speak with the worker on duty. See DTA Operations Memos 2014-7 2013-16 .

    Are There Restrictions When Using My Ebt Card

    EBT Card

    Yes. It is illegal to use your EBT card at:

    • Liquor store
    • Casino, gambling casino, gaming business
    • Adult-entertainment business
    • Any place mainly for or used by adults 18 or older and/or not in the best interest of the child or household

    It is also illegal to use your EBT card to buy:

    • Alcohol
    • Foods prepared to be immediately eaten
    • Vitamins, medicine, supplements or
    • Non-food items such as paper products, soap, or pet food.

    Buying any of these items with your EBT card or using your EBT card at any of these locations is considered misuse. The Family Support Division checks EBT purchases. If you misuse your EBT card, you will no longer be able to use an EBT card and FSD will select a new person to make purchases for your child/children. If you use your EBT card at any of these locations, you will be required to pay back the amount of the purchase. It is against the law for retailers at these locations to accept EBT cards.
