Families who got SNAP benefits during the 20202021 school year:

If a SNAP family does not need to apply, P-EBT benefits will be placed automatically on the current Lone Star Card by May 28. A notice will also be mailed to the family that shows which children will receive P-EBT benefits.
- If a SNAP family has children born after Aug. 1 2014 and received SNAP benefits for the first time in May or June during the 2020-2021 school year, P-EBT benefits will be placed automatically on the current Lone Star Card in July.

For families who need to apply for P-EBT benefits, it could take two to five weeks after completing your application to receive a P-EBT card loaded with benefits in the mail. You will receive a notice in the mail letting you know if your children are approved or denied. Cards will be mailed to the address entered on the application.

Who Is Eligible For Summer P
Three groups are eligible to receive summer P-EBT. Children in K-12 must have been enrolled in a Texas school during the last month of the 2020-2021 school year to be eligible for summer P-EBT.
If a family completes an NSLP form or socioeconomic form and are found eligible, they do not need to take any further action to receive P-EBT schools will be providing information to HHS to issue P-EBT benefits. A socioeconomic form cannot be completed now to be eligible for summer P-EBT, unless you attend a newly eligible Community Eligibility Provision or Provision 2 school.
This includes families that are newly enrolled for the 20212022 school year at a CEP or P2 school and attended a Texas school that provided free meals through NSLP during the 20202021 school year.

Texas Wic Income Guidelines
WIC is open to many incomes and families. If you are on Medicaid, TANF, or SNAP you meet the income eligibility guidelines for WIC. If you dont qualify for these programs, you may still qualify for WIC by meeting the income guidelines for your household. The Recovery Rebate Credit, also known as stimulus checks, and the Child Tax Credit direct payments are not included when calculating your income to determine eligibility.

Receiving Your Snap Benefits: Lone Star Card
When you qualify for SNAP, you will be receiving benefits through Lone Star Card. This is a standard plastic card, as in the case of debit cards. The card is used just like a debit card. You will have the money in your account on due date and you can purchase food items with it, using it like a debit card.
The United States Department of Agriculture provides SNAP benefits. USDA will load your card with your monthly amount of SNAP benefits, each month. You can use this money on stores where regular debit card works.
If you qualify and receive a Lone Star Card, it is your responsibility to use it with care. No one else can use your card since it is illegal to allow someone else to use your benefits. If you are in a situation where you’ll need someone else to use your card for you, you will have to ask for a second card. You can then give the second card to someone you trust. The money spent from that card will be deducted from your primary card.
In order to start using your Lone Star Card, you will have to sign at the back of your card after you receive it. You will also need to register it in order to use it. You can call 1 800 777 7328 to register your card. You will then choose a PIN for your card.
If you opt to pick up your card at HHSC benefits office instead of getting it in mail, you won’t have to register it. When you are handed over the card at the office, it is registered at spot.
When And How Will I Get My Summer P
Child care-aged children who received SNAP food benefits at any time between June 2021August 2021 will automatically receive summer P-EBT benefits on their Lone Star Card Oct. 1115.
If you received 20202021 school year P-EBT benefits because you completed the P-EBT online application or you automatically received benefits because you were part of a SNAP family, you will have summer P-EBT benefits automatically loaded on your Lone Star Card or P-EBT Card Nov. 29Dec. 3.
Families that do not receive SNAP benefits and are newly eligible for summer P-EBT should receive a P-EBT Card in the mail with P-EBT benefits loaded by Dec. 27.
