I am creating this petition to introduce a bill to allows vending machines to accept EBT cards as payments. Due to COVID there has been an increase in food insecurity throughout the United States. One of the many ways to combat food insecurity has been increases in monthly EBT food stamp payments. Many families rely on EBT payments to compensate for their decrease in income due to the pandemic.

Food and snack vending machines accept many forms of payment such as cash, credit cards and phone devices and has credit card information stores in it. However there is no vending machine that accepts EBT as payment. This new form of payments that will be accepted at vending machines will help bridge the gap of the food insecurity crisis.

Vending machines that accept EBT will help struggling families have easy access to drinks and snack when they are struggling financially and low on cash.
