Every time I go out, I put myself at risk and other people, said Knight, who lives in Erie, Pennsylvania. Im so terrified when people come up to me now. I dont want to go out to the store.
Buying groceries online which many Americans are doing to drastically reduce how often they leave their homes is only open to SNAP recipients in six U.S. states, and Pennsylvania is not one of them.
Now, state governments and food security activists across the country are imploring the U.S. Department of Agriculture to make the program more flexible and easier to access at a time when so many people are losing their jobs and turning to the government for support.

Not all large grocery retailers offer EBT nationwide. Here are a few retailers who may allow online EBT payment for groceries in certain areas of the United States.
- Fresh Direct has launched a pilot program for residents of select Bronx zip codes to order using EBT online. Hopefully, Fresh Directs online EBT ordering will be expanded to include other parts of the country soon.

Fresh Direct takes EBT. Its one of the grocery stores participating in testing USDAs pilot program allowing customers to purchase fresh food and groceries in select states.
Customers can only use their EBT cards to purchase SNAP-eligible products on Fresh Direct and have their order shipped home. The shopper must swipe their SNAP EBT card at the time of delivery to complete their purchase.
EBT customers shopping online on Fresh Direct are required to place a minimum order of $30. Currently, the EBT program is only available for deliveries to Bronx zip codes 10454 and 10455 at no delivery fee, tax, or surcharge.
