Find Out If Your Card Needs A Photo
Massachusetts law requires the use of photo identification on the front of each EBT card. We will use the photo from your driver’s license or other state-issued ID. If you don’t have one, we will schedule a time for you to go to a DTA office to take a photo. You can still get a card and benefits while waiting to take your picture. You aren’t subject to photo EBT requirements if you are:
- 18 or under
- A victim of domestic violence
- Prevented by your religious beliefs
- Getting benefits for someone else, but not yourself

Do Food Stamps Roll Over Or Expire

Many SNAP recipients wonder, Do food stamps roll over? This question is especially common once enrollees award months are set to expire and they are about to receive a new batch of food stamp funds. Awardees may worry if they have any funds remaining on their food stamp card balance at the end of the month that they will lose these monies. However, this is not the case. Throughout the country, food stamp benefits roll over from one month to another. This means that claimants who complete their grocery shopping for their allotted weeks and have some extra funding to spare will not need to forfeit those saved dollars in order to receive their new stipends.
Likewise, claimants wondering, What happens to unused food stamps? may also be concerned that any SNAP funds they did not use will be deducted from next months total. This does not happen either. When beneficiaries check the food stamp balance for their accounts at the end of the month, they will notice that they are in no way penalized for not using some of their benefits. As a result, claimants will receive their allotted payments regardless of how much unused SNAP money they have on their EBT cards.

What Do I Need To Check My Food Stamp Balance
Before claimants can verify their EBT balance, they must first learn the types of information they need to have on hand in order to check their remaining sums. These requirements vary from state to state, and they also change depending on the ways in which enrollees are checking their totals. However, food stamps recipients hoping to check their SNAP balance should be prepared to produce the following information, if necessary:
- Social Security Numbers
- EBT card numbers
- Food stamp account PIN numbers
Without this information, applicants will often be unable to determine the specific amount of funds available. However, online systems will only require claimants to log in with their pre-created login credentials.
When Are My Snap Benefits Available
If you have filed a new SNAP application, your SNAP benefits will be available the day following your case approval. If you have an ongoing SNAP case, your SNAP benefits are deposited on the same day of the month, every month, between the 1st and 19th.
Your SNAP benefit availability is based on the last digit of your case number: 1=11th, 2=2nd, 3=13th, 4=4th, 5=15th, 6=6th, 7=17th, 8=8th, 9=19th, 0=10th. If you have been receiving SNAP benefits prior to September 01, 2012 without an interruption in your SNAP benefits, your SNAP benefits will be available in correspondence with the last digit of your case number. For example: If your case number ends in 1, your benefits will be available on the 1st day of each month. If your case number ends in 2, your benefits will be available on the 2nd of each month. If your case number ends in 0, your benefits will be available on the 10th day of each month. You may set up a text alert via www.connectebt.com to inform you when your benefits are available.
