The U.S. Department of Agriculture has revised the Thrifty Food Plan to account for modern costs associated with the standard American diet. SNAP households will see an increased amount of your regular, non-pandemic benefits beginning Oct. 1.

About the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program helps low-income households in Colorado purchase food. It provides a monthly benefit that helps families and individuals buy the food they need for good health.
The benefit is provided based on income, resources and the number of individuals in the household. Electronic Benefit Transfer cards are used to receive the benefit and can be used similar to debit cards at participating food stores. The benefit can be doubled in value by shopping at participating markets and food stores that support the Double Up Food Bucks program.
SNAP is part of a federal nutrition program to help low-income households purchase food. County human services departments are responsible for determining eligibility and authorizing SNAP.

How Do I Use My Ebt Card
You can use your EBT card in any grocery store or retail location in the United States that displays the Quest Mark® logo or online at approved locations. Your EBT card will work much like a debit card, and you will have a PIN number you will need to enter. It is important that you keep your EBT card and PIN number safe and secure at all times.
You cannot use your SNAP benefits to buy:
- Alcohol or tobacco
- Hot prepared foods or foods prepared to be immediately eaten

How To Apply For Food Stamps

You also may file the application through your local Ohio Benefit Bank site. You can find the site nearest you and get more information at ohiobenefits.org. The Ohio Benefit Bank helps low-and moderate-income Ohioans apply for public benefits such as Ohio Works First.

Renewal Requirements Are Being Reinstated
The USDA Food and Nutrition Service waiver to extend certification periods is ending. Nutrition Assistance and Cash Assistance recipients whose benefits are set to expire on or after May 31, 2021, will need to renew their benefits in order to continue receiving assistance, if they have already received a six-month extension since November 2020. Affected households will receive a notice with instructions on how to complete the renewal process.
