The asset test is the final test you must pass.
Assets in your family must be below certain limits. A household without a member who has a disability or is elderly must have assets of $ 2,250 or less. The assets of a household with an elderly or disabled person must be less than $3,500.
For food stamps, what constitutes property?
In general, assets include assets that might be available to buy food at home, such as money in a bank account.
Household assets, personal assets, and retirement savings are not included in this calculation. Automobiles are also excluded. Individual states have the option of relaxing asset limits. A number of them have done so. For more information about asset requirements in your state, contact the food stamp agency.
According to the Department of Health and Human Services , the food stamp income limit is determined by a percentage of the National Poverty Guidelines. Here is a list of the most recent poverty guidelines followed by the full food stamp income limit.

About The Family Support Division

The concern of Missouri citizens for the welfare of the people dates to the territorial period before the State was admitted to the Union. A law of 1807 provided for the care of dependent children by apprenticeship, and a territorial provision for care of the adult poor was enacted in 1815. Section 2 of the Bill of Rights of the State Constitution also states in part: that all constitutional government is intended to promote the general welfare of the people …. Today, the administration of Missouris programs for the welfare of its people is the primary responsibility of the Family Support Division, Department of Social Services.
The Director of the Family Support Division is appointed by the Director of the Department of Social Services who in turn, is appointed by the Governor with the advice and consent of the Senate. With the exception of a limited number of unclassified personnel, all FSD employees are selected under a state merit plan.
In order to provide a comprehensive service delivery system, FSD maintains an office in each of the 114 counties of the state and in the city of St. Louis.
The Family Support Division is a state-administered agency responsible by law for administration of the programs and services.
Any person who wishes to apply for a program or service may start on the FSD Home page for an overview of programs and services. If you have questions, call 1-855-373-4636 or visit an FSD Resource Center near you.

Food Stamp Applicants Struggle To Get Through Missouri Call Center Line
In normal times, the Missouri Bootheel has the highest rates of hunger in the state.
But when the pandemic hit, it made an already bad situation much worse, said Lisa Church, chief advancement officer of the Southeast Missouri Food Bank.
The organizations pantries and mobile food distribution are seeing as many as three times more people coming for food assistance.
The 16 counties that the food bank serves located in the southeastern corner of the state have also seen the highest rates of food-stamp applicants these past months, according to the Missouri Department of Social Services dashboard on social impact.
But in November, about half of those applications were rejected a sharp increase from the months prior.
In Bollinger County, 53.5 percent of applicants to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program were rejected, according to the departments November monthly report.
St. Francois County had the largest number of applicants in the southeast region with 860 applications, and 45.1 percent of them were rejected.
But this trend is not unique to the Bootheel.
In total, the state received 58,627 applications for food stamps in November, and nearly 44 percent of them were rejected. Thats up from 27 percent being rejected in October and 37 percent in September.
The exact reason is unclear, but one possible culprit might be that many are facing long wait times as they try to call and finalize their applications. Some cant get through at all.
