Its up to you if you want to change your account settings to show whether items are SNAP-eligible, but its a very handy feature.
Quick recap: you access it from your Account Settings, in Account Hub which pops up when you select the three horizontal lines in the upper left-hand corner of the Instacart app.

As more Americans have sought food assistance amid the pandemic, more states and stores have started letting consumers use their benefits when ordering groceries online for pickup or delivery.
Participants in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, better known as SNAP, can pay in store at most major grocery chains including âspecialtyâ grocery stores like Whole Foods and Trader Joeâs using electronic benefits transfer cards. But, until last year, EBT wasnât a widely available payment option online. Now, through the expedited expansion of an online purchasing pilot program run by the U.S. Department of Agricultureâs Food and Nutrition Service, households receiving SNAP benefits in 47 states and the District of Columbia can use EBT to pay for grocery pickup and/or delivery from select retailers .
The list of participating states: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. Tops Customers Can Now Make Ebt Snap Purchases On Instacart
Tops Markets LLC now enables customers eligible for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program to shop online with Instacart. These shoppers can now pay for their same-day pickup or delivery orders with an Electronic Benefits Transfer card while shopping online at 126 Tops stores that partner with Instacart in New York state. In the coming weeks, the grocer will also offer these services at its Pennsylvania and Vermont locations that partner with Instacart.

To help subsidize costs for EBT SNAP participants, Instacart will waive delivery or pickup fees through Sept. 16, on up to the first three EBT SNAP orders for each customer with a valid EBT card linked to their Instacart account.
