Introduced in 1978, the Restaurant Meals Program is part of the federal food stamps law. Its a good-faith extension to those who cant or dont have the means to make their food at home.
RMP is meant to prevent hunger among the elderly, the disabled, and the homeless by allowing them to use their SNAP funds to buy hot meals at approved fast food places and restaurants. You are not just limited to grocery stores, donut shops, and bakeries that accept EBT.
Does that mean there is such a thing as EBT fast food delivery? If yes, what fast food places take food stamps?
Federal law leaves the discretion on whether or not to participate in the Restaurant Meals Program to the states. Each state is at liberty to decide whether to allow EBT fast food delivery and sets the eligibility criteria for qualifying to use an EBT card to buy food at approved low-cost restaurants.
Generally, those who qualify for the Restaurant Meals Program must have a gross income level below the federal poverty line and be either elderly, disabled, or homeless. Even though federal law allows it, not many states participate in the Restaurant Meals Program. As such, there are only a few fast food places that accept EBT.

This expansion means that EBT SNAP will now be available at all Publix locations in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. The Save Mart Companiesincluding Save Mart, Lucky California, Lucky and FoodMaxx bannersacross California and Nevada. Price Chopper/Market 32 across its New York stores, and in the coming weeks will expand to its Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania and Vermont locations. Once the expansion is complete, Instacart will offer EBT SNAP in more than 4,000 stores across 38 states and Washington D.C.
Customers can enter their zip code to determine if they are near a participating retailer and begin shopping and selecting items from retailers EBT-eligible products. SNAP users will have to add their SNAP EBT card to their Instacart account to pay for groceries. While the benefits will pay for most groceries, users will need to add a debit or credit card to pay for delivery and service fees, bottle fees, taxes, tips and any items that are not EBT eligible. According to Instacart, customers will see a payment breakdown on the Place Order page at checkout, allowing them to see what will be charged to their EBT card and what will be charged to their credit or debit card.

Instacart Doesnt Take Ebt So What Are The Other Options / Workarounds
Over the last few years, many retailers and groceries have started programs where you can do your shopping online. In turn, you can then use your EBT payment to pay for groceries at these accepted retailers.
That said, you cannot use EBT to pay for many items. Users of the cards know the things that they arent allowed to buy in the grocery, but the excluded list also excludes tips and delivery fees. This makes delivery via Instacart impossible.
Because delivery fees cannot be paid for with EBT, you can try to pay for delivery with a separate form of payment. Many people will buy things at the grocery and pay with two forms of payment . You should try the same online.
Can You Use Ebt On Doordash
If you qualify for the program you get special funds. The benefits are deposited monthly electronically in youraccount.
These funds can be used to pay for food items in approved merchant locations that accept EBT cards.
You need a secret PIN to use the card.
Doordash is a company that has a positive social impact. From January 2019 to September 2019 Doordash starteda pilot initiative with mRelief.
Qualified applicants received up to $35 in Doordash credit to support the cost of their meal.
Unfortunately you cannot use EBT on the DoorDash platform and in other food delivery apps such as Postmates, GrubHub and UberEats. Indeed, the hot food products prepared forimmediate consumption or buying food at restaurants are excluded from the program.
Basically, they are not eligible food items of the USDA pilot program. However, there are exceptions and there are restaurantsthat accept EBT. We will explain this below.
Keep in mind that using on-demand online services while you struggle to purchase everyday items and pay bills it is notan easy way to save money.

Instacart is a 24/7 grocery deliveryapp. Unlike the Shipt app that is unable to accept online grocery shopping with EBT, Instacart allows EBT paymentsat participating Aldi stores in the states that are participants in the SNAP benefits online program.
Keep in mind that you can order groceries online with the EBT card using the Instacart app.
If you use the Instacart pickup option, youwill waive the fees. However, if you choose to order online with EBT and get delivered to your home, you will alwayspay the delivery fees.
Shopping online with ebt card, you cannot tipyour grocery delivery driveror use your EBT card to pay for your membershipsubscription. Finally, you can use it only for buying the allowed items at the participating stores.
Does Grubhub Take Ebt
The Grubhub food delivery app focuses on delivering restaurant-prepared food from local restaurants. Grubhub doesnt take EBT or food stamps for fast food delivery.
But the problem is less on Grubhub and more on SNAP rules. SNAP doesnt allow EBT cardholders to purchase hot, prepared restaurant meals with their benefits.
Although the discretion on whether or not to extend SNAP via the Restaurant Meals Program is left to individual states to decide, only a few states participate in the RMP.
Online and mobile food delivery services like Grubhub are left with no option but to play by the rules. Since they exclusively deliver for restaurants that sell hot, prepared, ready-to-eat food, their food items wont be eligible for EBT or SNAP purchases in most states.
But, GrubHub takes cash for food delivery orders, unlike most of its competitors. GrubHub also accepts credit cards, active American Express gift cards, Apply Pay, Google Pay, and PayPal, but does not take debit cards, prepaid cards nor will they cash a third-party check or personal check.
All food delivery drives appreciate cash tips as compensation for friendly and quick service. Its one of the best under-the-table jobs that pay cash.

Does Publix Take Ebt
Although Publix has accepted EBT payments in stores for a while now, they could not process EBT payments for online orders until April 2021. This new expansion of the SNAP/EBT program has made grocery shopping through their chain more accessible to consumers of all income levels.
Publix takes EBT on eligible food items purchased in-store and online orders placed through Instacart for delivery or pickup. Most food items are covered with SNAP/EBT benefits. In addition, you can buy cold subs, sushi, and cakes using your EBT card at Publix.

Can Ebt / Food Stamps Be Used At Aldi
On October 22nd, Aldi and Instacart announced a new partnership in order to accept EBT SNAP payments for same-day online grocery delivery and pickup. For the first time ever, EBT SNAP participants will be able to access fresh food and pantry staples via same-day delivery and pickup from Instacart.
This program begins in the coming weeks across ALDIs more than 60 Georgia stores, and will expand to more than 570 stores across Illinois, California, Florida and Pennsylvania in the coming months.
With EBT SNAP payments on the Instacart platform, customers will be able to shop and select from ALDIs EBT SNAP-eligible products. Once items are added to their cart, customers will be able to select how much of their benefits they would like to allocate to the order.
Can I Buy Food Online With Ebt
Online grocery shopping has taken off in the last few years.
Until recently, this time-saving option has not been available to folks that use EBT/SNAP benefits to purchase their groceries.
Fortunately, the United States Department of Agriculture , thefederal agency that oversees the SNAP program launched the EBT Online Purchasing Pilot. This pilot program allows states to add online purchasing as an option for EBT cardholders.
Amazon and Walmart accept EBT payment online from just about every state.
However, there are some rules when it comes to paying with EBT online. You can only purchase EBT eligible items. You cant pay delivery fees, tips, or other associated charges with SNAP benefits. Those extra charges will have to be paid for with a different form of payment.
Unfortunately, Instacart recently joined the program, but currently only accept it at Aldi in select states.

EBT stands for Electronic benefits transfer.
