On October 22nd, Aldi and Instacart announced a new partnership in order to accept EBT SNAP payments for same-day online grocery delivery and pickup. For the first time ever, EBT SNAP participants will be able to access fresh food and pantry staples via same-day delivery and pickup from Instacart.
This program begins in the coming weeks across ALDIs more than 60 Georgia stores, and will expand to more than 570 stores across Illinois, California, Florida and Pennsylvania in the coming months.
With EBT SNAP payments on the Instacart platform, customers will be able to shop and select from ALDIs EBT SNAP-eligible products. Once items are added to their cart, customers will be able to select how much of their benefits they would like to allocate to the order.
Does Publix Take Ebt
Although Publix has accepted EBT payments in stores for a while now, they could not process EBT payments for online orders until April 2021. This new expansion of the SNAP/EBT program has made grocery shopping through their chain more accessible to consumers of all income levels.
Publix takes EBT on eligible food items purchased in-store and online orders placed through Instacart for delivery or pickup. Most food items are covered with SNAP/EBT benefits. In addition, you can buy cold subs, sushi, and cakes using your EBT card at Publix.

In What States Does Instacart Take Ebt
Instacart supports EBT SNAP payments in 37 states, including :
So, if you live in any of these states listed below:
- Alabama
- Wyoming
It means you cant use your EBT SNAP benefits at all on Instacart.
Its important to note, too, that not every retailer on Instacart also supports EBT SNAP in every state.
For example, the chain Price Rite has locations up and down the eastern seaboard.
Currently, the only states in which you can use EBT SNAP to shop Price Rite include Connecticut, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island.

What You Can Buy With Florida Ebt Card Summary

Can You Tip Instacart Drivers With An Ebt Card
You cannot tip your Instacart driver with an EBT card. Similar to Instacart delivery and service fees, tips cannot be paid using the SNAP/EBT benefits. You can tip the driver using the credit or debit card on your Instacart account or give cash at the time of delivery.
Be sure to add a secondary payment method to Instacart to tip your driver and pay for the Instacart delivery and service fees mentioned above. This payment method will also be needed if you purchase items that are not eligible for SNAP benefits.

What Kind Of Food Can I Buy With An Ebt Card
The 2009 Food and Nutrition Act states that a food product or any food intended for human consumption and home preparation come under the category of eligible foods.
Your Washington State EBT card balance can be used to purchase snacks, groceries as well as seeds of plants that produce food. Things that are not eligible for purchase with the WA SNAP benefits include tobacco products, alcoholic beverages, live animals, vitamins and prepared foods, hot food, and any other nonfood items.
You can utilize your EBT card balance WA to buy the following foods
- Vegetables
- Food producing plants and seeds
Things that are not eligible for purchase with the WA State EBT balance include:

Instacart Doesnt Take Ebt So What Are The Other Options / Workarounds
Over the last few years, many retailers and groceries have started programs where you can do your shopping online. In turn, you can then use your EBT payment to pay for groceries at these accepted retailers.
That said, you cannot use EBT to pay for many items. Users of the cards know the things that they arent allowed to buy in the grocery, but the excluded list also excludes tips and delivery fees. This makes delivery via Instacart impossible.
Because delivery fees cannot be paid for with EBT, you can try to pay for delivery with a separate form of payment. Many people will buy things at the grocery and pay with two forms of payment . You should try the same online.

Build Your Cart & Check Out
Once your payment information is updated, you can now shop online with your EBT by adding EBT eligible items to your cart.
Once you are done selecting your items, you can view your cart and see the total for EBT-eligible items, as shown in the image below.
After reviewing the items in your card, you can select Checkout to proceed.
Report Lost/stolen Ebt Card

The first replacement card in a calendar year is free. You are charged $5 for each additional replacement card. When you or your EBT alternate cardholder requests 3 or more replacement EBT cards within a 12-month period, you will be issued a replacement card, but you may not be able to use it until you make contact to explain the reason for the replacement EBT card request.

Since it cant pay for Instacart fees or taxes, it definitely wont cover tips for your Instacart shopper and delivery driver.
Instacart requires you to also have an additional debit or credit card for these charges.
Make sure you tip your shopper using the other card on your account.
You dont want to forgo a tip just because youre using limited EBT funds.

Does Doordash Accept Ebt
If you want to have groceries delivered from Walmart, using DoorDash may be an option.
DoorDash delivers for Walmart in 46 states, and they do not charge higher than store prices. Walmart recommends not tipping drivers.

Unfortunately, DoorDash does not accept EBT as payment. DoorDash typically delivers food for restaurants, and you cant use EBT to purchase hot, prepared foods. They are simply not a part of the USDA pilot program.

The first tip to successfully using your EBT card with your Instacart account and online grocery delivery is to make sure your card has your own information on it and is valid.

Tops Customers Can Now Make Ebt Snap Purchases On Instacart
Tops Markets LLC now enables customers eligible for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program to shop online with Instacart. These shoppers can now pay for their same-day pickup or delivery orders with an Electronic Benefits Transfer card while shopping online at 126 Tops stores that partner with Instacart in New York state. There is nothing like free food, all on the tax payers dime.
Starting today, February 11, 2021 North Carolina Food and Nutrition Services participants can purchase groceries online using their EBT cards through Instacart.com or the Instacart mobile app, providing access to an additional authorized online EBT retailer, Food Lion.
This flexibility will allow North Carolina food stamp participants to buy food online at Food Lion while promoting social distancing to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and will help families with transportation and mobility barriers.
Users will be able to access their benefits for online grocery delivery and pickup while shopping through Instacart on the Food Lion storefront. Once items are added to their cart through Instacart.com or the Instacart mobile app, customers will be able to select how much of their benefits they would like to allocate to the order.
