Ebt Snap Users Now Eligible For Safeway Grocery Delivery And Pickup
KENNEWICK, Wash. Sara Osborne with Safeway and Albertsons said theyve been looking for ways to ease food insecurities in recent years.
We believe everybody should be able to shop for themselves and make their own choices about how to feed themselves and their families and how do we provide greater access? Sara, the Director of External Affairs, asked.
Then, the pandemic hit and sped up their plans.
We really want our stores to be able to nourish every single person in our communities and not everyone has access all the time to buy enough to keep meals on the table for every meal, she said.
They found more people using SNAP or EBT assistance from the government were more likely to have food insecurities due to mobility issues. Sara said perhaps it wasnt feasible for them to risk leaving the house, but those benefits couldnt use their cards on the online ordering interfaces.
So our IT teams were madly working on really developing that program so people could actually use their snap card online and get groceries delivered to their home, she explained.
Sara said there was a workaround for EBT and SNAP users who wanted to utilize Safeways pickup, but it required extra devices. Recently, Safeway and other grocery stores owned by Albertsons Companies made it so people on SNAP or using EBT, can order groceries for pickup or delivery with ease.

The United States Department of Agriculture, the federal agency that oversees the foods stamps program started the Online Purchasing Pilot in January 2017 with select retailers for the initial launch of the EBT Online Purchasing Pilot.

How Long Will Safeway/albertsons Hold Your Pickup Order
According to Albertsons terms and conditions, grocery pickup orders not claimed by 8 p.m. local time on the scheduled day will be canceled. If you call ahead and let them know, though, they might agree to hold your items through the following morning.
You will be refunded for your order, but since the items will need to be restocked, the fine print says the grocery store reserves the right to charge a restocking fee for orders that are restocked. I doubt theyd do it, but good to know.
Does Doordash Accept Ebt/snap
DoorDash also doesnt accept EBT or SNAP beenfits currently whatsoever even for non-prepared or minimally-prepared foods.

Safeway pickup is called Drive Up & Go and it works by customers completing all of their shopping on the Safeway website or the app instead of in-store. After completing the shopping, customers can simply come to the stores parking lot to get their items brought out to their car.
