WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. Palm Beach County is providing assistance to residents needing help to put food on the table during the pandemic.

New numbers obtained by Contact 5 from county officials show 1,206 pre-paid debit cards have been processed, totaling $782,400 in assistance.

According to the county, one card can be given per household. One to two-member households will receive $400. Three to four-member households will receive $800.

Households of five or more people will receive $1,000.

Applicants must present evidence their household was adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Applicants must provide proof of income, such as last pay stub or last filed tax return, valid government-issued ID, and Social Security card.

Clients who received assistance for rental and utility services thru COVID Cares program may apply for the food assistance without uploading additional documentation.

The county has allocated $5 million from the Cares Act for the program.

WEST PALM BEACH, FLA New applications are being accepted by Palm Beach County for one-time food assistance under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act and, also, resubmittals for returned rent and utility applications until December 17, 2020 at 5 p.m. Palm Beach County is a partner of the City of West Palm Beach, and residents of West Palm Beach may apply. CARES Act Food Assistance Portal

Eligible residents who experienced a loss of income as a direct result of COVID-19 and who are at or below 140 percent Area Median Income may still apply for food assistance. Food assistance is based on household size, and maximum amounts are listed below.

Under the CARES Act, Palm Beach County issues pre-paid debit cards to approved residents to purchase food. Only one card is issued per household.
